Downloads: the AWEDU browser

The AWEDU or Active Worlds EDUcational Universe is the home of our Showcase world upon which we have created a number of examples of our work for demonstration and presentation purposes. It is both easy and free to visit our Showcase world, either by pre-arranging a demonstration with us, or simply downloading the browser and following the simple instructions below.

Then follow these instructions to visit our Showcase world.

1) Upon installation you will be presented with a login screen. Simply enter your name and an email address and proceed to login.

2) When the software has fully loaded you will be at the gateway world called ^centre^.

3) In the top left corner of the browser will be a button labelled 'Advanced Mode', click this.

4) Press F7 to remove the inbuilt web window on the right hand side of the browser.

5) Now that you are in advanced mode you will see a group of tabs on the left hand side of the browser. Click on the tab titled 'Worlds' and scroll down the list until you see the world named 'Showcase'. Click on Showcase world in the list.

6) Upon arrival in Showcase please wait for the environment to load, this is usually only necessary on your first visit there.

7) Once everything has loaded you will be able to move around using the cursor keys on your keyboard. If you are unable to move, click with your mouse in the graphics window first and then try again.

8) Finally, as you look around, you will notice a group of pictures in a row. These are 'live' teleports which will take you to areas of interest around the world. Simply browse the pictures and when you are ready, click on the picture of choice with your mouse.
